A 24-year-old Parkville man has been charged in the shooting of an acquaintance at a residence in the 300 block of East Street in Parkville.
Quintavius Adam Giles faces charges of felony assault in the first degree and felony armed criminal action in the incident, which occurred about 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 19. Giles is currently listed in custody in the Platte County Jail with bond set at $75,000 cash only.
The victim, who Parkville police have said is in his early 30s, told police that Giles knocked on his door and asked him if he had been talking crap on Giles’ girlfriend, according to court documents. According to the allegations, the two men began to argue in the kitchen, then both started throwing punches. The victim stated that Giles then fired two rounds at him and one round hit him in the left side of his neck and one round in the shoulder, according to court documents.
A witness told police the two men knew each other and that Giles had previously lived with the victim when Giles was homeless, according to court papers.
The victim was taken to the hospital, where he was later interviewed by police while in stable condition.
After the shooting, Giles and his girlfriend fled the scene, police said.
The charges were filed last Wednesday, July 22. Giles had been taken into custody on July 21.
