Dan Mason challenging Dagmar Wood in Aug. 4 primary
Dan Mason, a former federal agent for the USDA Office of Inspector General and longtime Platte County resident, is seeking the District 1 seat on the Platte County Commission.
The seat is currently held by Dagmar Wood. Mason and Wood will square off in the Republican primary election set for Tuesday, Aug. 4.
“Platte County deserves a leader who is fully engaged with our community members, government officials and business community and who is invested in the lifelong, positive change for our county,” says Mason. “I have the education, knowledge and experience to oversee financial accounting, contracts and budgets and the ability to take that information to successfully work with the community at large to ensure that Platte County remains a great place to live, work and play.”
Mason is committed to the support of crucial public safety issues for all county residents and, most importantly, for those in need; to maintaining and advancing the county’s infrastructure to meet the needs of the county’s long-term growth; and to working with municipalities and leaders to bring businesses and jobs to the county.
Mason believes the time is right to apply his experience in land management, project management and financial oversight directly to county government because of citizens’ ongoing concerns about appropriate use of taxpayer money.
“I believe fiscal oversight is more important now than ever before,” says Mason. “Residents and businesses deserve county government to be held accountable for how our taxes are used. I want to address those concerns and continue to make Platte County even better.”
While Mason is a career-long public servant, he is not a career politician.
Mason holds a Bachelor of Applied Science, Agricultural Economics from Missouri State University.
