Some North Platte students told to quarantine

A student in the North Platte R-1 School District has tested positive for COVID-19, school officials confirmed on Monday.

The student was in the weight room for workouts last week and those who had close contact with the student are being told to quarantine.

Karl Matt, superintendent at North Platte, in a Facebook post said:

“We have a student who has tested positive for COVID-19 who was in our weight room workouts last Wednesday. We have worked closely with the Platte County Health Department to determine what students would need to be quarantined from that day. We have contacted those who had close contact with the student to ensure parents/guardians affected have been notified of that quarantine requirement,” Matt wrote.

“We cannot provide more specific identification due to federal privacy laws. We place a high priority on the health and safety of our students and staff. If your child has symptoms, including fever, sore throat, chills, aches, loss of smell or taste, etc. please consider seeking medical care,” the superintendent added.
