COVID closes Spectrum Station

The Platte County Health Department said Tuesday it is aware of several positive cases at Spectrum Station in Platte City. Spectrum Station is a daycare and early learning center located at 2401F Kentucky Avenue, in a strip mall near Price Chopper. “Early last week Spectrum Station administration reached out to the Platte County Health Department for guidance, and immediately our disease investigators began working diligently with Spectrum to identify and reach out to the close contacts,” said Natalie Klaus, public information officer for the health department.

As a precautionary measure to help mitigate the spread, Spectrum Station will be closed through this week, July 13 – July 17.

As per a statement released by Spectrum Station, moving forward the center will require all staff to wear masks throughout the day. They will also require parents to wear masks when dropping off and picking up their children.

Klaus said the “Platte County Health Department commends Spectrum’s rapid communication and proactive response, as it is the sentiment of both PCHD and Spectrum that the safety and well-being of the residents of Platte County are of the utmost importance.” The health department later said “several teachers” at Spectrum had tested positive.

Spectrum Station offers early childhood development for infants through school-aged children.
