Passing motorists on M-92 and I-29 turn their heads when they drive by the old water tower in Platte City to watch some daring workmen perched on top and sides as they clean off the old paint and apply a primer coat of white. The water tower will be restored to its original luster with a new coat of orange paint.
The Missouri Public Service division of UtiliCorp United presented a jeweled pin to Judith Lamar, customer service assistant at MoPub’s Platte City Service Center on Bethel Road for her 20 years of service. She started with MoPub in 1970 as an engineering clerk at the service center. Her husband, Robert, owns Lamar Shoe Repair in Platte City.
Mr. and Mrs. Robbie Meyerkorth, Edgerton, announce the birth of Jenna Marie on June 26, 1990. Jenna weighed 8 pounds 8 ounces and is welcomed home by her sister Sara Ellen. Mrs. Meyerkorth is the former Penni Boswell.
The second 4-H Day at the Zoo was held June 23 to promote 4-H in general, and to announce Missouri 4-H Foundation’s sale of “Never-Ending Season Cookbook.” Platte County 4-H’ers helped with the event by serving as ambassadors and photographers, helping with the information scavenger hunt, face-painting, and making 1,200 balloon animals.
The Platte County Commission Thursday approved a motion to allocate $14,000 as the county’s contribution toward $30,000 in seed money needed for a program against drug abuse.
