A previously-planned Saturday, July 11 concert on the lawn of the Platte County Courthouse has been canceled due to ongoing community health concerns.
That was the word this week from the sponsoring organization, Platte City Friends of the Arts.
“Both the City of Platte City and the Platte County Health Department advised Friends of the Arts to cancel the July outdoor summer concert on the courthouse lawn. Positive COVID numbers were rising at the time of the decision last week,” said Susan Anderson of Friends of the Arts.
Anderson said the group should know in a couple of weeks whether it will be able to host its scheduled Aug. 8 concert.
The July 11 concert was supposed to feature Soca Jukebox. The Saturday, Aug. 8 concert, if it happens, will feature the band Cherry Bomb.
