The 127th annual Platte County Fair will be held at the Fairgrounds in Tracy from July 18-21. Some pre-Fair events will be held by 4-H clubs as early as Tuesday, July 17.
Platte County workers sweltered in the heat and humidity part of the day Monday when the air conditioner failed in the new $2.1 million County Administration Building. The “glitch” in the air conditioner was fixed after about half a day.

The late Billy G. Cox, former Platte City postmaster and community leader, was the recipient of the annual Truman V. Glenn Memorial Award Saturday during the Zed Martin Day celebration. It was the first time the award has been given posthumously. His widow, Ester, accepted the award. Presenting the award were Mrs. Trudy LaForce and Terry Glenn, children of the late Truman V. Glenn, former mayor of Platte City.
