Three students are the top scholars for the Class of ’90 at Platte County R-3 High School. They are Jeff Wright, valedictorian, Amy Clary, and Debbie Thomas. Jeff is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Wright of Platte City and will attend UMR at Rolla. Amy is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orville Steppe, Red Rock, and will attend Missouri Southern. Debbie is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Thomas of Platte City and will attend CMSU.

The City of Platte City has a mystery-what happened to our flag? Mary Lou Highlander, office manager, reported the city recently put up a new American flag only to find it missing from the flag pole and the rope broken. Anybody with clues is asked to contact the city offices.


The Main Street Association of Platte City will honor Platte City and Platte County War Veterans, prominent citizens, and settlers in celebration of its colorful past Monday, May 28. Joseph Morgan, the only Revolutionary War solider to be buried in Platte County will be honored. John Pasley of Liberty, Jane Cline of Maryville, Darwin Martin of Platte Woods, and Delta Richardson, direct descendants, are expected to attend a flag rededication and pledge directed by past Veterans Post Commander Gordan Miller at 10 a.m. Jack Hansel, Platte City municipal judge, will give a “flag tribute” after rededication of a flag presented to Mrs. Hansel last November which had been flown over Washington D.C.
