The Platte City Police Department apprehended a 34-year-old man who attempted to flee after allegedly beating a female victim so badly she was hospitalized.
At about 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 3, officers were called to the parking lot of the Platte City Price Chopper on a physical disturbance. According to witnesses at the scene, the male suspect, later identified as Nicholas Williams of Platte City, was “slamming” a woman’s head into the steering wheel of a vehicle with such force the horn was sounding.
Witnesses told authorities they observed the female victim through the windshield uttering the word “help.” The victim allegedly escaped the vehicle and attempted to head toward the Auto Shine Car Wash. But allegedly Williams darted from behind “shoving her to the ground,” causing the back of her head to strike the concrete. While she laid on the ground, Williams allegedly wailed on her, according to court documents.
Eventually, witnesses interjected and broke up the physical altercation. When officers arrived at the scene, Williams was attempting to flee, authorities say. Officers captured Williams and read him his Miranda rights.
While in custody, Williams allegedly told authorities he had been drinking and got in a fight with the victim. He told police the female victim would not press charges if he could just speak with her.
A female officer assisted the female victim and noticed her swollen eyes were not responding normally to movement. She was transported to the North Kansas City Hospital, where she was treated for multiple injuries.
According to allegations made in court documents, this was not the first time Williams had attacked the victim. He also has an extensive rap sheet that includes domestic assault, possession of drugs and paraphernalia and property damage.
Williams was charged with felony domestic assault in the third degree.
