David Scott Miller, the business manager of Airport Ford in Platte City was found dead in his Kansas City, North apartment last week. Kansas City Police are investigating the case as an apparent homicide. Miller had worked at Airport Ford for several years. When he failed to show up for work on Thursday, a coworker became concerned and went to Miller’s apartment, where he had a maintenance man unlock the door. Miller’s body was discovered about 1p.m. in his bedroom.


The big battle over whether to paint Platte City’s water tower tan or orange ended Monday night with a split vote of 4-2 for orange by the Board of Alderman. Students at Platte County R-3 High School got up a petition asking that the tower remain orange, the color of the R-3 Pirates. Students appeared before the alderman earlier and argued their cause. Sonny Hill Motors offered to help pay the extra cost of painting the tower orange.


Enhanced 911 Emergency Telephone Service for residents of Ferrelview, Platte City, and Weston went into effect at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 17. Under the new system, residents may dial the three digit emergency code to obtain immediate emergency assistance. The Public Safety Answering Point for 911 calls is the Platte County Sheriff’s office. Callers who dial 911 will not only have their telephone number automatically identified, but their address as well will be displayed at the dispatcher’s position.
