Three demolition derby drivers from the Platte City area have been invited to take part in a big demo derby at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City on Saturday. Derby organizers went looking for the 12 hardest-hitting drivers and found three of them in this area-Scott Foster, Lloyd Simmons, and Zachary Kossen, who will be taking part in this “by invitation only” event.


Platte City police are investigating a forgery case that occurred earlier this month when a local woman’s Social Security check was stolen out of her mailbox and later cashed at a local grocery store. Police Chief Chuck Masoner said the check, along with other mail, was stolen from the lady’s mailbox on Paxton Street on April 4. The check was cashed at the Super Save grocery store in Platte City.


The new Platte County Administration Building is expected to be completed about the middle of May and the Platte County Commission is getting ready for the big move. David Brenner, eastern district commissioner, said Thursday that the commission earlier that day held a “walk through” with representatives from six companies interested in bidding on the moving project.


On May 6, Platte City Lions Club members, family members and friends will walk a distance of 10 kilometers over a course through historic Fort Leavenworth, Kan. in a “Journey for Sight” to aid the blind and sight-impaired.
