Four Platte County Library employees of the Mid-Continent Public Library representing fifty-eight years of service were honored at a retirement luncheon on March 20, 1975. Recognition certificates were presented by Warren Plumb, president of the Platte County Board of Library Directors to Beulah Deal, Platte City library, 29 years; Pauline Sherwood, Edgerton library, 12 years; Berniece Shouse, Weston library, eight years; Ruth Brightwell, Platte City library, nine years. William Lay, board member, John Ferguson, associate director of libraries, and Joe Filbeck, North Area administrative librarian, were also present at the luncheon.


Mr. and Mrs. David R. Miller, Sun-Up Farms, Smithville, received the State Farm Management Award at the Western Missouri Farm Management program which was held March 4, 1975 at the Hotel Muehlebach in Kansas City. The Millers were one of 32 farm families recognized by the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Kansas City for outstanding accomplishments in farming. Families selected for this award have demonstrated their ability to operate and manage a successful farm business.


The Student Council at North Platte is sponsoring Cheryl Davidson as candidate for queen of the Saddleites Horse Show, to be held May 25 at Dearborn Fox Hunt Grounds.


Mrs. Nancy Wagoner and Mrs. Beverly Hershley attended their club at Platte City Thursday evening at the home of Donna Jo Ramsey. They enjoyed a chili supper.
