A Platte City woman is accused of altering a laptop computer in order to delete child pornographic images and video to prevent her father from being prosecuted.
The Platte County Prosecutor’s Office charged 23-year-old Jenna Ogden with tampering with physical evidence. Her father, 50-year-old Roger Ogden, was charged with possession of child pornography on July 11 and is now out on bond.
According to court documents, when Jenna Ogden and her sister first discovered child pornography on their father’s computer, they were deeply conflicted with how they were going to respond. The younger sister captured the illegal images with her cell phone camera to prove her father’s transgression, while Jenna allegedly “factory reset the computer to delete the images and moving images.”
Both women told their mother about the child pornography, leading to a police investigation. When detectives previewed the images and video on the cell phone, they allegedly found pictures of “naked children, many on beaches.”
Authorities say one image is of a child who appears to be under the age of 10-years-old.
Police executed a search warrant of Roger Ogden’s property located in the 13000 block of Timber Park Terrace in Platte City on July 12 but came up empty handed. Roger’s laptop computer was not located inside the residence, according to court documents.
When police questioned Jenna regarding the laptop, she denied knowing its whereabouts but admitted she viewed child pornography on the computer two times.
“Jenna admitted she did factory reset the commuter to delete the child pornography so her father would not get into trouble or kill himself,” states court documents.
