A 42-year-old man was found unconscious behind the wheel of his 1998 Ford F150 at the intersection of Lober Road and Schabach Drive in Weston.
At about 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, a concerned citizen dialed 9-1-1 after she observed an unconscious male parked at the end of her driveway in the 17000 block of Lober Road. Shortly thereafter, she observed the man drive down the street.
When police arrived, a white male, later identified as Steven Lee Hadley, Jr. of Trimble, was found face down inside his vehicle with the engine running, state court documents.
Police make several attempts to rouse the driver but were unable to wake him long enough to open the door.
The officer entered the vehicle from the unlocked passenger side door and removed the key from the ignition. When the officer shook the driver, he noticed a white foam coming from his mouth, prompting the officer to request an EMT.
According to court documents, Hadley eventually became responsive and told the officer he ingested 17 Xanax pills. Police later discovered that wasn’t all he allegedly ingested.
Hadley was taken to Saint Luke’s Hospital, where he submitted to a Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus, one leg stands test and blood test.
Inside Hadley’s vehicle, police allegedly recovered a small plastic container of marijuana, a blue and clear glass pipe, bottle of pills and six Busch Lite Beers. Authorities say the glass pipe contained residue that tested positive for methamphetamine.
The Platte County Prosecutor’s Office has charged Hadley with driving while intoxicate, a felony charge as a chronic offender.
If convicted, Hadley could serve more than two years in state prison. Hadley has had three prior DUI convictions, according to court documents. Two of those occurred in Platte County and one in Clay County.
