RE/MAX raising funds for shop with a cop

Patty Farr’s RE/MAX House of Dreams is once again organizing a large community fundraising event that will benefit the Platte City Police Department’s Shop With a Cop program.

A Winter Wonderland Silent Auction and Chili Luncheon event will raise money that the local police department will then use to take underprivileged children shopping for a Christmas experience.

The silent auction, featuring prize baskets gifted by Re/Max and other local businesses and organizations, is in fact already underway. The public can stop by anytime between now and Dec. 3 at RE/MAX House of Dreams at 2000 Kentucky Avenue in Platte City to place bids on the baskets.

Then on Tuesday, Dec. 4, the event spills to the Platte County Community Center North in Platte City. Bidding will continue until noon on that day at the center. The free chili luncheon will also take place at the community center, Farr said.

“It’s a free luncheon with an opportunity to network and bid on some amazing gifts. One hundred percent of the proceeds benefit Shop With a Cop here in Platte City,” Farr told The Landmark.

Last year, Patty Farr’s RE/MAX House of Dreams raised $4,200 that went to the Platte City Police Department’s Shop With a Cop effort.

The police department last year took 33 kids shopping for Christmas.
