A new home community is nestling its way into the rolling hills of southern Platte County.
Chapel Ridge, a master-planned community, encompasses 143 acres. It is being developed by Brian Mertz.
Mertz says the community, going in at 7210 NW Hampton Road in Platte County, will include extensive landscaping, treed green space, community pools, trails, scenic views, stocked fishing ponds and area parks.
“The convenient location of Chapel Ridge being close to I-435 and Hwy. 152 will allow homeowners to get anywhere in the city in minutes,” Mertz told The Landmark this week.
He points out the development is just minutes from KCI Airport and Zona Rosa and is just five miles from The Legends, Sporting KC soccer park and Kansas Speedway.
Next door to Chapel Ridge sits Union Chapel Elementary School in the Park Hill School District, where homeowners can take a walking trail to the school. The designated middle school for the area is Lakeview and the high school is Park Hill South.
Sites in phase one are now open, with additional home sites coming in June.
Price point on the homes is $300,000 and up.
In all, Chapel Ridge has 140 lots, with about 90 of those in a planned maintenance-provided area. Construction will begin this summer on the two swimming pools and clubhouse.
Construction of a two-story home near the entrance is well underway. The owner of that $365,000 home is expected to move in around June 1.
Tabb Reese and Kellie Montgomery with RE/MAX Results comprise the marketing team for Chapel Ridge.
Reese said model homes will be open in early summer. Lot holds are currently being accepted.
Montgomery said that as a closed community, only select builders are allowed, with approved designs and plan layouts.

Build jobs have already begun and several buyers have reserved their lots.
