Downtown block party ready to roll in downtown Platte City Friday, Sept. 11 A downtown block party with live music, food, beverages and fun is coming to Platte City on Friday, Sept. 11. The public is invited to attend the free event. Bring your lawn chairs.
Live country music by the group known as Rivertown will highlight the street party in front of the Platte County Courthouse. The festivities begin at 5 p.m. and will shut down at 9:30 p.m.
At 5 p.m. the area between Third and Fourth Streets will be blocked off and a meet and greet begins. Vendors start offering food and beverages at this time.
At 5:45 p.m., special guest speaker Lt. Col. Aaron Eckerberg will make remarks in observance of Patriot’s Day, observed each Sept. 11.
At 6 p.m., Rivertown takes the stage. The band will play until 9:30 p.m.
In addition to the music of Rivertown, other highlights will include barbecue available from Porters Pig Shack, a beer garden provided by the Pool Hall, and refreshments available for purchase from Arctic Shaved Ice. There will be free popcorn and free cotton candy, courtesy of Patty Farr’s Re/Max House of Dreams.
All the activity will take place between Third and Fourth Streets on Main.
The party is sponsored primarily by Scott L. Campbell Law Offices and Jacob A. Pruett Law Offices, located in the 300 block of Platte City’s Main Street.
