After months of speculation the mystery of the new medical clinic on its way to Parkville has been solved.
Heartland Health finally announced it will be opening up a health and life care clinic at Parkville Commons that it says will offer a new approach to health care.
In January, Parkville city officials approved the construction of the two-story, 16,100 square feet medical building, despite not being fully aware of the exact nature of the future occupant.
Chris Williams of Briarcliff Realty, LLC and Douglas Beykly, an architect with AECON, presented the design plans of the future medical clinic to the Parkville Board of Aldermen on Jan. 17, but refrained from announcing the name of the future occupant at the owner’s request.
This week, David Jones, Heartland Health regional administrator, revealed that “a physician-led life care organization” will be opening July 1 in the Parkville Commons to provide the local “community with high-quality, convenient, affordable, health and life services.”
Jones described Parkville as a very progressive place.
“We are honored and excited to be a part of the Parkville community,” said Jones.
The new Heartland clinic will offer both primary care and urgent care.
“We are offering more than health care, we are offering life care. That means that we are going to equip you with the tools and resources you need to have complete health: mind, body and soul.”
The health care individuals receive at Heartland will be quite different from other medical centers. Heartland will offer customized health care “by eliminating long wait times and unnecessary travel to receive high-quality care.”
“When you walk through the doors at Heartland Health in Parkville you will be greeted by a chef, who will be preparing healthy meals in front of patients. The chef will demonstrate how to prepare a healthy, yet delicious meal while you briefly wait to see one of our providers,” said Jones.
“We got rid of the waiting rooms,” he said.
“In everything we do, we do it with this in mind — we are here to be a true community partner by providing limitless avenues to make the Parkville area one of the best places to live a healthy and fulfilled life.”
Approximately 23 health professionals, including four health providers, will be employed at the Heartland Clinic in Parkville. The second floor of the building will serve as the administrative office.
Heartland is not new to Platte County. In 2006, a Heartland Clinic was opened in Platte City.
Heartland will also open a new clinic in Burlington Creek later this year. The Burlington Creek location in North Kansas City will focus on overall health improvement, said Jones.
