According to information from Brent Holland, officer with the Riverside Police Department, the man was southbound on Interstate 635 in a 1999 Chevrolet Malibu around 2:30 a.m. The vehicle apparently left the road going into the median near NW High Drive and struck a concrete bridge abutment of the northbound Interstate 635 lanes.

Riverside police and fire personnel found the vehicle with extensive damage and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Riverside police are still investigating the accident.

The overpass was also the site of a fatal accident in December.

Tasha Bradford, 24, was killed in an accident as she was traveling north on Interstate 635 in her 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt. Her vehicle struck a drainage culvert and became airborne striking the ground near NW High Drive below the bridge. Bradford was ejected from the vehicle and died later at North Kansas City Hospital.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol website, there were eight injury accidents along the nearly four mile stretch of Interstate 635 during 2008.
