‘Spooky night’ planned in downtown Platte City

Platte City’s Main Street will be a haunted place on Saturday, Oct. 27.

The Main Street Association is sponsoring the A Spooky Night on Main Street event with help from the Platte County High School Drama and Forensics Students.

There will be a dogs’ costume contest at the Main Street Pet Resort and Day Spa from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. A children’s costume parade up Main Street and ending at the courthouse will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The drama and forensics students will then perform a haunted theater on the courthouse steps at 5 p.m.

There will then be walking tours every 10 minutes from 5:15 p.m. to 8 p.m. starting at Da Capo restaurant. Skits will be performed at some of the stops along the tour route.

The walking tours will start at Da Capo for the Addams Family Tea Party and then go to the Wade Residence for The Raven. The next stop is Dejavu Salon and Day Spa for Pandora’s Box followed by a stop at the New York Life Building for “The Monster Mash.”

Snyder’s Plumbing and Heating is the next stop for A Civil War Ghost Story and Shields Manor Bistro is another stop for a Murder Mystery. The tour then stops at the Main Street Pet Resort and Day Spa for The Hound of the Baskervilles and the last stop is for continuous readings of The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything by Linda Williams.
