Platte County will seek public input on roads planAs part of ongoing development of a roads master plan, the Platte County Commission has announced it will hold a public meeting to gather citizen input. The meeting will be held Monday, March 11, at the Platte County Administration Building (415 Third Street, Platte City, Mo) and is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
Several issues will be discussed at the meeting that related to roads and bridges within Platte County. First, staff will discuss the results of a citizen survey regarding road issues that was conducted in November.
Also, on the agenda for the session is a review of some of the road usage data that has been collected so far by HNTB, the consulting firm hired by the county to assist with the plan. Finally, citizens will be given the opportunity to share any ideas they have for improving roads and bridges in Platte County.
2nd District Commissioner Steve Wegner said the county understands that there are roads and bridges that need work. “The purpose of this meeting and of the plan as a whole is to identify potential solutions,” said Wegner. “Input from residents is essential if the plan is going to be successful.”
The county has been working on a roads master plan since last year. In addition to hiring HNTB to assist with the plan, the county commission also appointed approximately 25 residents to serve on a citizen oversight committee. That committee has met several times to discuss issues related to roads and bridges to the county.
