Wayne Jones, 42, Platte City, was sentenced last week to 45 years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple counts of statutory rape and statutory sodomy.

Charges were brought against Jones after a minor child disclosed to a school counselor that Jones had been sexually abusing her and another minor child on multiple occasions over the last five years. In his police interview, Jones admitted to engaging in numerous sexual acts with both girls including having vaginal intercourse and oral sex with both girls on multiple occasions.

At his sentencing, Jones’ attorney asked the court for leniency on behalf of his client, claiming that these acts, although horrible, are the only law violations that Jones has had in his life.

“I am very pleased that the court ignored that argument,” commented Tammy J. Glick, Platte County Prosecuting Attorney. “Even though he does not have any prior criminal history, his actions are the equivalent of an emotional life sentence for the victims in this case,” explained Glick.
