Weston man dead at suspicious fire scene

Detectives speaking with person of interest

A Weston man was found dead inside a structure fire in the 600 block of Prospect Street in Weston early today.

According to authorities, at just before 2 a.m. this morning (Sunday), the Platte County Sheriff’s Office and the Weston Police Department were notified of a fire at a residence on Prospect Street. Timothy Darby, age 60, from Weston, was found dead in the residence.

Prosecutor says incident involving mayor ‘under review’

The fire is believed to be suspicious, according to authorities. A person of interest is currently speaking with detectives, authorities said Sunday evening.

The Platte County Sheriff’s Office and the Weston Police Department said they do not believe that there is any danger to the public.

The Platte County Sheriff’s Office and the Weston Police Department said they were assisted at the scene by the Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office, the West Platte Fire Department, West Platte Ambulance, Northland Regional Ambulance District, the South Platte Fire Department, the Central Platte Fire Department, the Camden Point Fire Department and the Dearborn Fire Department.
