The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will present a Live Nativity Drive-Thru on Saturday, Dec. 12, from 6-8 p.m., displayed in the parking lot at the church building at 2700 Ensign Drive in Platte City.
The public is invited to view at no charge nine different scenes commemorating the story of The Christ for the purpose of celebrating the birth of the Savior to bless mankind, the real meaning of Christmas, the church says in a news release.
Platte City Mayor Tony Paollilo will be presenting a proclamation for the event at 5:45 p.m. in a short opening ceremony.
The nine tableaux to be featured will include live animals as appropriate and will commemorate the major Biblical events that tell the story of the Savior. Some of these scenes to be depicted will be the Prophet Isaiah writing the prophecies foretelling of the Savior’s birth; the visit of the Angel Gabriel to Mary; Joseph and Mary’s Journey to Bethlehem; the shepherds see a new star; the Wise Men seek Jesus; and, of course, the baby Jesus in the stable with Mary and Joseph.
To access this special free event without leaving their vehicles, the public is asked to enter the church parking lot from Ensign Drive and to exit onto Broken Bridge Lane to return home.
