Students in Platte County High School’s Engineering Design and Development class partnered with the City of Platte City to design and construct a scale model of the community’s iconic water tower, now displayed outside City Hall. The project challenged students to create a unique community landmark and photo opportunity. Students used industry-standard tools and processes, including 3D modeling software, CNC machining, laser engraving, and fabrication techniques, to bring the project from concept to completion. Students involved in the project were Blake Herron, Cole Johnson, Gage Harmon, Cale Buntz, and Kimber Brown under the direction of teacher Kevin Janssen. Pictured are students Blake Herron and Cole Johnson after they installed the completed water tower display outside Platte City Hall.
