Platte County is getting a new industry. The Platte County Industrial Development Authority has given preliminary approval for $8 million in industrial revenue bonds for the new headquarters and distribution facilities for Alfa-Laval, Inc. to be located at AirWorld Center near KCI.


More than 100 Platte County Republicans turned out Sunday in Platte Woods to officially open their 1980 headquarters and launch campaigns that will concentrate on county-wide offices. The headquarters are located in the K-Mart Plaza, 7110 NW Prairie View Road, Kansas City in Platte County.

Mrs. Dottie Dorman of Camden Point and Mr. David Taylor of Portland, Oregon, announce the engagement of their daughter, Jean Ann, to Richard Allen Coons, son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Coons, Jr. of Platte City.


Mr. and Mrs. Tom Nighswonger celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on Sunday, Sept. 7 by hosting 20 of their immediate family over the weekend. Jim Nighswonger, their son from Austin, Tex., surprised his parents Sunday morning with a red rose bouquet with 144 roses in it.


Ralph and Danna Porter wish to announce the birth of their first child, Darin Phillip Porter, who was born on Sept. 9. He weighed seven pounds, 13 ounces.
