April 13, 1990

The West Platte R-2 Board of Education reorganized Monday night following the election. Kenny Clemens was again named president and Cheryl Schimmel was again named vice president. The board meeting was cut short because one of the members had to leave early, so the meeting will be continued at 7:30 p.m. April 17 in the superintendent’s office.

Mike and Jan Miller have purchased the Platte Professional Pharmacy and the new name is Miller Professional Pharmacy. Ten years ago the pharmacy opened with Miller as the manager. He states that he has enjoyed serving the community and has strived to maintain a professional facility offering care and respect for his customers’ needs. Two years ago the pharmacy was computerized to offer convenience customers in insurance billings and to monitor allergies and drug interactions. The pharmacy will continue to have evening hours Monday, Tuesday and Thursday for customer convenience and deliveries will be made in Platte City and Tracy.


Stuart Hunt, project manager for Briarcliff West, will be the featured speaker at the Platte County Economic Development Council’s quarterly luncheon on Thursday, April 19. Hunt’s topic will be Briarcliff West, the 270 acre commercial and residential development by Garney Companies, Inc. The luncheon will be held at the Hilton Airport Plaza Inn, 8801 NW 112th St. in Kansas City. Hunt was recently the project manager of the Riss Lake Development by Leo Eisenberg Company.
