The Thrift Shop located on Main Street above Max’s TV in Platte City will open for business on Friday, Sept. 21. Any donation of clean clothing, toys in good repair and kitchen utensils will be received on Monday. The new Thrift Shop, which is sponsored by the Platte City United Methodist Church, will be open for business on Monday through Thursday till noon, and Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. till noon.
Harry W. and Jonnie E. Weigman will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 15, 1979. A reception will be held at the home of their son, Kent Weigman, 1109 Washington Street, Weston.
The Platte City Pirates lost their home opening game last Friday 12-9 to the Smithville Warriors. Mike Freeman rushed for 111 yards on 16 carries to lead the Warriors in their triumph. The Pirates scored first on a 29-yard field goal by Barry Woodson to cap a 40-yard drive. Smithville scored in the second quarter and again in the third quarter. The Pirates scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter on a two-yard run.
The 1939 class of the Camden Point High School gathered at the Red Owl Restaurant last Saturday night, Sept. 8, to celebrate their 40-year reunion.
