EDITOR:
I’m writing this letter to explain why I think that your readers should vote Marcus Farr for Platte County Assessor on Aug. 6 and why I know he is the best candidate for the job.
In the time Marcus has been with the assessor’s office he has helped integrate a more comprehensive software program, helped develop additional programs to make the appraisal process more accurate and more compliant with the State Tax Commission, and more importantly, has become a Missouri Certified Appraiser, giving him mountains of more education, knowledge and experience than his opponent.
His experience and accomplishments have catapulted him into the leadership position of the real estate property appraisal department. I have been an employee in the assessor’s office for 13 years and I can guarantee there is nobody running for the office of assessor who has more knowledge of the appraisal process, more peer respect, or more common sense leadership skills than Marcus possesses.
I have accompanied him many times when, upon a taxpayer request, he went to their home, listened to their concerns and physically inspected the property. He spoke with them politely and made sure they agreed on the final results. Total professionalism! Actually, over the past 10 years or so, I have never seen or heard any employee in the assessor’s office be rude or demeaning to a taxpayer.
Believe me, being a county commissioner is NOT a prerequisite that qualifies someone for leading the assessor’s office. There are over 45,000 parcels in Platte County and it just makes sense to elect someone who, for the past eight years, has lived with and understands the State Tax Commission guidelines and all the other aspects of the job.
Marcus has the respect of everybody in and out of the assessor’s office. His willingness to help others and offer guidance is second to none.
Thank you for your consideration, and remember Marcus Farr For Assessor.
It just makes sense.
