ONE MAN KILLED, ANOTHER REMAINS IN CRITICAL CONDITION
Police, including Kansas City Metro Squad detectives, continue to investigate the shooting that occurred in the parking lot of the Wendy’s in Platte City Wednesday night.
A day after the shooting, police are not releasing much more information than was readily available on Wednesday night.
Platte City Police Chief Joe Wellington said he requested the Metro Squad be called in for the investigation. The Metro Squad is a special tactical unit whose purpose is to investigate murder in the Kansas City.
One adult male was killed and another adult male was critically injured in the shooting, which occurred about 6:22 p.m. Wednesday at the rear portion of the parking lot of Wendy’s, which is located at 1400 Platte Falls Road in Platte City.
Wellington said the injured man remains in critical condition the day after the incident. The chief declined to answer whether detectives have been able to speak with the injured man.
On Wednesday night about two hours after the shooting, Wellington told The Landmark that “we don’t even know who they are” when speaking of the two men found shot in the parking lot, indicating neither man had identification on him.
It is unknown at this time what led to the shooting. Wellington declined to answer whether there was a vehicle associated with either man at the scene.
Police ask that anyone with any information about the incident call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (816-474-8477).
