Team Tony, soccer and Baby Jesus

I’ve reached the chronological age of not knowing how I hurt myself when the doctor asks. “How’d you hurt yourself,” says doctor. “No idea,” says me. Basically, waking up is a risk each day. But, grateful to wake up, so here we are. Let’s press forward. The Landmark has a crappy sick leave policy.

I’ve not watched one single second of World Cup soccer and I feel dirty for admitting that. I’m probably a threat to democracy for my lack of interest. Not a J6 level threat, but more like a random Trump rally attendee threat.

I’m kind of sad I have never attended a Trump rally. If democracy survives long enough, it would be a neat memory when they get him chiseled into Mount Rushmore.

Ok, that won’t happen, but you must admit the range is fairly wide on the Trump outcome. He could end up in prison or back in the White House, the scale has extremes.

This seems like an opportune time to remind you that Baby Jesus was not born on December 25th. Don’t be mad at me, I don’t make the rules. This is a truth-based column, no threats to democracy here. I’d say you’re safe to continue celebrating Christmas this December but keep in mind you are simply promoting a false narrative. Do so at your own risk.

Gotta admit, I was pretty disappointed in Gov. Parson for not jumping on Team Tony and selecting Platte County Sen. Tony Luetkemeyer to fill the position of attorney general. Parson chose his staff attorney for the appointment and while the appointment appears adequate, it seems more Parson centric than party or political. The benefits of choosing an already elected official from a Republican area seemed pretty advantageous to the party from my perspective, but I’m no governor.

I do wish I’d named one of my kids Governor. That would have been a savage name to have as a kid. Anyway, I’ve digressed.

Tony is going to hold statewide office eventually, it’s just a matter of time and until then Platte County gets the benefits of him not taking off for Jeff City or Washington.

The governor’s choice for the position is a decorated army vet named Andrew Bailey to the job and in the somewhat distressing news, Bailey is part of the governor’s team that has not been kind to the press. He was forefront in controversy’s regarding public information requests from the governor’s office and administration and in the needless advocating of prosecuting a reporter who discovered a security flaw in the state’s system that revealed private citizens Social Security numbers.

That should concern us all. Government has gotten continually worse at transparency and both Republicans and Democrats are to blame. It is a shame that we have more ways to communicate and provide information than in other time in the history of the world, yet government is continually coming up with ways not to share how our money is spent. That should concern you.

Don’t send me hate mail for not watching soccer. I just don’t care for the sport. I sometimes watch midget wrestling, but I don’t ask you to watch, we can coexist.

Not sure if that should be “little people” wrestling based on current standards, but gonna go with “midget” until the pronoun police show up. Carry on.
