Monday morning the Callegari Construction Company started putting fencing around the Platte County Courthouse. The northeast corner addition will be removed and the existing building will be underpinned on the north side, then the construction for the new addition to the courthouse as well as the renovations can be started.


The Platte City Youth Building has a fresh coat of paint. On Sunday afternoon Jaycees undertook the job of painting the exterior of the Youth Building near the baseball complex in Platte City.

Joni June Houx of NW Tiffany Springs Rd. in Kansas City was one of 90 participants in the dress revue at State 4-H Day on Sept. 17 at the University of Missouri-Columbia, featuring her Platte County 4-H clothing project. She also volunteered for a demonstration in the hairstyling workshop and received a new hair style.


State Treasurer James I. Spainhower will be a guest on Saturday, Oct. 1 at opening ceremonies of the Weston Tobacco Festival. The event is sponsored by the Platte County Historical Society at the Lewis Tobacco Warehouse.


Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Cannon were hosts to a family reunion picnic on Sunday, Sept. 25.
