Three affordable price tiers offered
From carryout and delivery services to traditional dine-in experiences, Kansas City Restaurant Week presented by Sysco returns to the metro area this week, running Jan. 14-23.
Now in its 13th year, the 10-day dining event showcases the region’s culinary talents through special, multi-course menus at three affordable price tiers-$15, $35 and $45.
As of today, 196 restaurants have signed up to participate in the popular annual tradition organized by Visit KC and the Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association (GKCRA).
“Restaurants are the lifeblood of our neighborhoods, and each January we come together to celebrate and support the dining establishments that truly make our community unique,” said Kathy Nelson, president & CEO of Visit KC. “For the next 10 days, we encourage our fellow diners to take full advantage of these tremendous values as well as the opportunity to give back to our local hospitality industry, a critical component of our local economy.”
In addition to casting a spotlight on KC’s diverse culinary scene, 10 percent of proceeds for every Restaurant Week meal sold will benefit three local charities. Over the course of its first 12 years, more than $3 million has been raised by restaurants and diners for local causes.
In 2022, benefitting organizations include the Guadalupe Centers-the 2022 featured charity-in addition to the Visit KC Foundation and the GKCRA Education Foundation.
As the largest Hispanic organization in Kansas City since 1919, Guadalupe Centers serves more than 12,000 men, women and children each year through its various programs. Donations from this year’s event will support the Centers’ catering program, which provides healthy, nutritious food to vulnerable individuals and families in the KC metro area, including homebound seniors and students within the Guadalupe Charter Schools.
“A cornerstone of Kansas City for more than a century, Guadalupe Centers delivers an essential service to our local community and its citizens,” said Bill Teel, GKCRA executive director. “Thanks to the generosity of our diners and participating restaurants, we’re thrilled to cast a larger spotlight on their inspiring work through Kansas City Restaurant Week. Participants can dine out knowing they’re also doing good, helping us give back to this extremely worthy cause.”
