Crowd control is the new thing at Walmart stores, including this one on N. Boardwalk Ave off of Barry Road in Platte County. On Sunday afternoon, a store employee and a security officer were placed near the entrance to limit the number of people who can enter the store.
Aisles inside the store were made into one-way traffic to prevent customers from getting too close to one another The new procedures are in place to help stop the spread of the potentially dangerous coronavirus.
Walmart says crowd limitations will differ from store to store and will be based on the size of the facility.
The store says it adopted the changes because some customers were exhibiting risky behavior and not practicing proper social distancing procedures. “Stores will now allow no more than five customers for each 1,000 square feet at a given time, roughly 20 percent of a store’s capacity,” the company said in a press release. As another preventive measure, some store shoppers on Sunday were using masks to cover their faces.
