The Platte City Swimming Pool is off to a good start, even though the really hot weather hasn’t arrived yet. Swimming classes will start June 15 at the pool, a midnight swim is set for June 12 and July 4. Staff members are Scott Nash, Mark Hickman, Bob Higgins, Ted Lusk, manager Jackie Coots, Sally Lusk, Natalie Parrett and Kelley Coots.
Amy Heather Lindsey, five-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Lindsey of Platte City, poses with her crown, banner and trophies won in the Tiny Miss Division at the Royal Miss Pageant finals held in Topeka, Kan. on May 9. She was named Miss Photogenic for which she received a crown, banner and a first place trophy. The dress Amy is wearing won her a first place trophy for best costume, the old-fashioned look. The dress was made by her grandmother, Mrs. Dale Pine. The grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Dale Pine and Mr. and Mrs. Baker Lindsey. Amy attends school at the Platte City Elementary School. The other trophies won were first alternate for talent, second alternate for beauty modeling and a ‘most promising’ trophy.
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Lutte will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, June 14, with a reception from 2-4 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church Annex in Farley. The couple was married June 3, 1931 in Boonville at the bride’s home on the lawn at sunset.
