The second annual Zed Martin Founder’s Day will be held Saturday, July 4. Last year, the first Founder’s Day event was held Aug. 17 to celebrate Platte City’s 140th birthday. Zadock “Zed” Martin, founder of Martinsville, later, Platte City, was the “first legal white man” in what was to become Platte City. Because of the response, the Platte City Park and Recreation Board, in cooperation with the City of Platte City and Chamber of Commerce, is again planning Zed Martin Day.
