Superintendent Gerald Hart of the Platte County R-3 School District expressed his appreciation from the podium after he was honored with the title of Platte County Citizen of the Year in the annual Business and Professional Association banquet Saturday night at the Hilton Airport Inn.


Mr. and Mrs. Roy C. Davis of Platte City have announced the engagement of their daughter, Brenda Lee, to Barry Rock, son of William G. Rock and Mrs. Elsie Rock, both of Platte City. Brenda is a 1978 graduate of Stewartsville High School and is presently employed at General-Standard Inc. in North Kansas City. Barry is a 1978 graduate of Platte County High School and is presently employed at Rock Ford Tractor Inc. in Platte City. The wedding date is set for Saturday, Feb. 14 at 2 p.m. The ceremony and reception will be held at the First Baptist Church in Platte City. All friends and relatives are invited to attend.

Mr. and Mrs. James S. Shepherd will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, Feb. 15 from 2-5 p.m. at the Northview Heights community building in Smithville. The event will be hosted by their daughter, Donna DuBois, her husband Larry and children. Mr. and Mrs. Shepherd were married at the home of the late Rev. Boxter Waters in Smithville. Her maiden name was Elma Cox.
