INCREASE FOR PLATTE COUNTY CUSTOMERS WOULD BE $30 PER MONTH
The Timber Creek Sewer Company, which serves areas of Platte County and also an area in Clay, is seeking an 80 percent hike in sewer rates.
The increase, if approved, would raise the company’s sewer rates for its Platte County customers from $36.71 per month to $66.30 per month, an increase just short of $30 per month.
Most of the requested increase “is related to the company’s investment in additional necessary capacity for the Prairie Creek facility, continuous power improvements, collection system inspection and cleaning, collection system repairs, infrastructure repairs and replacements for all facilities, and increased operational expenses,” the company says in a notice sent to customers.
On Dec. 15, Timber Creek Sewer Company submitted a request for an increase in its annual sewer operating revenues to the Missouri Public Service Commission (PSC).
The Missouri Public Service Commission (PSC) is announcing local public hearings, starting on Feb. 18, to receive customer comments in a request for the rate increase from Timber Creek Sewer Company, Inc.
There will be one in-person and one virtual local public hearing.
The PSC says Timber Creek Sewer Company filed a staff-assisted rate increase request with the Missouri Public Service Commission. The requested increase would total approximately $890,000.
The rates in Clay County would go from $28.50 per month to $51.47 per month, an increase of 80 percent.
