EDITOR:

Across the country, Democrats have seen massive success in special elections in 2025. These successes have invigorated Democratic leaders to expand the electoral map on the state level, including the Missouri General Assembly.

What about Kansas?

Looking forward to what’s ahead

Breaking the Republican supermajority in the Missouri House requires Democrats to flip three seats, and in the Missouri Senate two seats. The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) has named Missouri a ‘powerbuild’ state.

Platte County is home to one of the most competitive House Districts in the state of Missouri: HD-12 (House District 12). In 2024, HD-12 was decided by only 176 votes.

We in Platte County know that winning HD-12 is going to be a fight, but the Platte County Democratic Party is ready.

After years of leaving seats on the table in Missouri, it is invigorating to see the DLCC put Missouri on its target map. This attention will allow the Democratic Party to invest in more infrastructure and support local candidates, like our Democratic candidate in HD-12, Tracey Steele.
