CONVENIENT, ON-DEMAND TRANSPORTATION SERVICE

The City of Riverside hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony Nov. 4 in the Fire Department bays of the Riverside Public Safety Building – 2990 NW Vivion Road – to inaugurate the new on-demand, door-to-door ride service powered by GEST, a national transportation provider.

Riverside joins Gladstone and Liberty as partner cities in the project to deliver transportation options for Northland residents.

The new service began on Nov. 1, replacing the IRIS micro-transit program that has served Riverside since 2023. The city has been seeking a more customizable, sustainable, stable option for residents and businesses to meet the need for reliable, affordable transportation.

“Riverside is continuing to be a community that meets people where they are – literally,” said Mayor Kathy Rose. “Our new on-demand, door-to-door rideshare program is about more than transportation. It’s about independence for seniors, access for workers and students, and peace of mind for families who need it the most. Whether you’re headed to a doctor’s appointment, the grocery store, connecting to locations across the Northland, Riverside is making it easier to get there. This is local government at its best – responsive, innovative, and focused on improving everyday life for our residents.”

The GEST door-to-door ride share program will offer direct rides in Riverside and within GEST partner communities including Gladstone and Liberty along with trips to the nearest operating KCATA bus stop.

Additionally, riders can go to and from many Northland healthcare facilities and medical offices.

Service will operate weekdays from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and weekends from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m.

Fares anywhere in the GEST service area are set at $3 per ride and trips can be scheduled by calling or texting (816) 919-4378 (GEST).

The GEST vehicles are hybrid powered SUVs.

As part of this launch, GEST is hiring local driver ambassadors from the Riverside community, offering $20 an hour plus tips, to provide friendly, hometown service.
