The Platte County Health Department has had some complaints about door-to-door meat vendors. These mobile meat vendors are not licensed and inspected by the health department in Platte County.


Every contested race at the county level in Tuesday’s election went in favor of Republicans in Platte County. Joan Harms defeated incumbent Democrat Sandy Krohne for county clerk, Kevin Robinson defeated incumbent Democrat Siobhann Williams for county auditor, Sheila Palmer defeated Democrat Becky Dye for county collector, Jason Brown defeated Democrat Bobby Kincaid for presiding commissioner, Nick Marshall defeated Democrat Lexi Norris for 30th district state representative, Galen Higdon defeated Democrat Bill Caldwell for 29th district state rep, and challenger Ron Schieber defeated incumbent Democrat Jason Grill for 32nd district state rep by less than 200 votes.

Six skaters from middle school through college attended the Platte City Parks and Recreation Board meeting with skateboards in tow to learn the fate of Platte City’s long-awaited skateboard park. They liked what they heard. Board members voted unanimously on a location and a manufacturer. The skateboard park will be located at the southeast corner of Fourth and Hwy. 92. Cost will be about $34,000 from American Ramp Company of Joplin.
