A 17-year-old Platte City girl is “mortified,” says Det. Al Devalkenaere with the Platte City Police Department after having discovered that her step-father allegedly placed a cell phone camera in the bathroom and recorded video of her removing her clothes and getting ready to shower. In the ongoing investigation, Devalkenaere says that the man’s phone has been turned over to the Heart of America Regional Computer Forensic Lab for examination but that no charges have yet been filed.


Joan Harms, Republican candidate for county clerk vs. incumbent Democrat Sandy Krohne, spoke at a candidate forum Thursday night at the Platte County Resource Center.

Christ Chapel has announced it has hired Pastor Daniel Beshears as its full time youth and children’s pastor. Pastor Daniel first began working with junior high students while attending Smithville High School, where he graduated in 2004. Shortly after graduation, he began classes with Global University. In 2006, he joined the Christ Chapel family as a part time youth leader. That same year he began his own family, marrying his wife Hannah. Pastor Daniel received his credentials with the Assemblies of God in January of 2010.


The National Rifle Association (NRA) has officially endorsed. Dr. Rob Schaaf in his bid for State Senate District 34.
