Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Alexander, Jr., of Platte City have announced the engagement of their daughter, Edith Marie, to Dale Eldon Lawler. Dale is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Lawler of Clinton. A Nov. 21 wedding is planned at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Farley. Edith is a 1975 graduate of West Platte High School and a 1978 graduate of Northwest Missouri State University. She is employed by Leesville R-3 School District as a learning disabilities teacher. Dale is a 1970 graduate of Clinton High School. He farms and is also employed by Kansas City Power and Light.


Mr. and Mrs. Bill Werline of Platte City announce the birth of their son, Jason Jackson, on Sept. 20 at the Spelman Memorial Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert “Sonny” Cox are the maternal grandparents and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Werline are the paternal grandparents.

Virginia Osthoff, a tour guide, poses in front of the Weston Historical Museum, one of the points of interest on the annual Weston Old Homes Tour and Heritage Festival, to be sponsored by the museum and community organizations on Saturday, Oct. 11 and Sunday, Oct. 12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The building stands on the site of the International Hotel and was the second building erected by the Weston Baptist congregation after the first burned in 1896. Tour funds are used for improving the present building.
