The search is on. Platte City police are searching for the owners of stolen property who may have been victimized in a recent crime spree by a local 16-year-old juvenile. The 16-year-old turned himself in after he became aware authorities were on his trail. The juvenile initially confessed to 22-30 crimes of stealing from unlocked vehicles parked in driveways and various locations around Platte City and some spots outside the city limits. “He confessed to a number of thefts and indicated he would hit as many as 25 cars per night when he went out stealing, said Det. Al Devalkenaere. Carl Mitchell, police chief, said the suspect’s mother was instrumental in helping police recover much of the stolen property.

KC Confidential column by Hearne Christopher: In the blink of an eye the Northland’s newest movie theater is no more. Don’t fall for the ads that continue to run in the Kansas City Star. Zona Rosa’s five month old Studio Movie Grill bit the dust last weekend. I’d like to say it was fun while it lasted but after attending a pre-opening movie schmooze there last May it was evident that the “upscale” movie and dining emporium was long on promises but way short on delivery. Count the Studio Movie Grill as Zona Rosa’s second failed attempt to host an upscale movie and dining experience, following the shuttering of the former Majestic Theater.
