Bryan Richison, left, had his first day on the job as Platte City’s new city administrator on Monday, July 21. He is shown with DJ Gehrt, current interim administrator. Gehrt is expected to remain on staff until late August to assist in the transition. Richison comes to Platte City from the City of Arnold, where he spent 12 years as administrator for the city with a population of 21,000. Prior to Arnold, he had spent about three years each as city administrator at Lawson and as assistant city administrator at Gladstone. Richison’s annual salary will be $140,000, which is the same as previous administrator Tom Cole had been making during his eight-month tenure. Prior to Cole, Marji Gehr had been earning $120,000 during her eight-month tenure before her employment was terminated by a unanimous vote of the aldermen. Richison’s first board of aldermen meeting with Platte City came Tuesday night on his second day on the job.
