Workmen are busy installing lines for cable television in Platte City, as these linemen were doing this week along Hwy. 92. Ralph Purl, manager of Tel Vee Inc., contractor for Platte County Communications Co., said some cable TV will be in operation this week. The company plans to have the cablevision service in operation this summer. Cable will be laid underground in those areas with underground utilities.

Rodney A. Nave of the Platte City Police Department was presented a certificate of appreciation by Shirley Kimsey, representing the Platte City Chamber of Commerce, in a ceremony at the courthouse Friday afternoon. The award was for “service above and beyond the call of duty” in putting out a fire at the Platte City Middle School.


Acting in response to the recent North Central Association accreditation report stating Platte County R-3 High School is deficient in supplies and equipment, the Platte County R-3 School Board Thursday allocated $38,700 for additional purchases for the coming term.
