Approximately 150 people attended the 40th anniversary celebration of the Platte City Lions Club Friday, March 28. The banquet, catered by the women of the Platte City United Methodist Church, was held at the Platte City High School.


The Methodist Men’s Club held its annual dinner, March 26, for Scout Troop 351. The guest speaker for this event was Dave Meyers.

It’s Easter. . .”Resurrexit” is the title of the sermon to be delivered by the Rev. L. Kyle Hern from the pulpit of the United Methodist Church of Platte City as the United Methodists celebrate the Festival of Easter during the 10:45 a.m. service on Sunday, April 6. The service will feature special music by Mrs. Kristie Garrelts who will sing a solo entitle “I Know That My Redeemer Liveth,” and a vocal duet by Mrs. Garrelts and Roland Giffee entitle “O, Divine Redeemer.” Kyle Hern will provide a vocal introit entitled “Morning Has Broken.”


The annual Cub Scout Pinewood Derby was held at the Platte County R-3 Middle School on Tuesday, March 25. There was a large turnout of cubs, anxiously awaiting the upcoming races. Bill Cox, local postmaster, weighed the cars for competition as cars weighing over five ounces are disqualified.
