EDITOR:
I’ve spent decades living in the Platte County R-3 School District as a citizen, invested patron and elected official. In that time, the changes for our community have been substantial and often challenging.
Yet, I’ve always been confident in the district leadership to make the right decisions and drive progress in a fiscally responsible manner as strong stewards of our tax dollars. The upcoming election offers another chance to support this important ongoing work and approve the ballot question related to general obligation bonds.
The Platte County R-3 School District continues to build an extremely impressive track record of providing our students with upgrades to facilities under often-difficult circumstances. The amount of growth in the Northland has seen us go from mostly rural to a diverse and blended district that continues to provide strong experiences for students academically, as well as through activities and athletics, excel in all metrics related to success in education, activities and athletics.
Both of my kids are proud graduates of Platte County High School, and I’m still incredibly grateful for my tenure on the school board and playing a part in maintaining the vision still seen today. The ability to move forward on the high school rebuild and other important construction and renovation projects without an increase to the tax levy doesn’t happen without successful short- and long-term planning.
Please join me in voting yes this April so our district can continue managing a path of growth while maintaining carefully considered and managed budgeting processes.
