Person of interest located in double homicide

UPDATE: At 9:10 a.m., authorities told The Landmark the suspect has been located and a briefing will be held later this morning.

Authorities are investigating a double homicide in the Riverside area.

The Platte County Sheriff’s Department says a double homicide occurred just after 11:15 p.m. Thursday night.

Investigators say the first homicide occurred in Riverside near the intersection of Vivion Road and NW High Drive at about 11:15 p.m.

The suspect took that victim’s vehicle from the scene and proceeded to the 4400 block of NW 50th Street in unincorporated Platte County. While at a residence in the 4400 block of NW 50th Street, the suspect shot two other individuals resulting in a second death, and seriously injured the second party.

Authorities say the suspect then took a five-year-old female from the residence and fled the area.

An Amber Alert was initially issued for the five-year-old, but that was canceled when the girl was found at about 5:10 a.m. on Friday. Police say the girl was located and is safe, unharmed and has been reunited with family members.

The sheriff’s department says the person of interest in both homicides is George Clyde Manning, described as a 43-year-old black male, five foot seven inches tall.

Authorities say Manning should be considered armed and dangerous.

The public is asked to call 911 or the Platte County Sheriff’s Office at 816-858-3521 if you have any information pertaining to the homicides.

The Riverside Police Department is working in conjunction with the sheriff’s department on the case.
