North Platte R-1 High School held its basketball courtwarming Friday night, which was highlighted by the crowning of a king, queen, prince and princess. From left are Karla Hood, daughter of Dave and Gloria Hargis of Camden Point, queen; Billy Koontz, son of Bill and Jan Koontz of Camden Point, king; Vanessa Eickhoff, daughter of Don and Judy Eickhoff of Platte City, princess; and Troy Resler, son of Ron and Gloria Resler, prince. On the court that night against Plattsburg, the Panthers were defeated but the Lady Panthers were easy winners.

Three North Platte High School students earned honorable mentions for their entries in the scholastic Art Awards contest sponsored by the Kansas City Art Institute. Pictured left to right are freshman Christina Perry, who won for her artwork “All Alone;” senior Ryan Hendrix, for “Confusion on the Checkerboard;” and freshman Tiffany Divine, for “Dazed and Confused.” The winning entries were completed in a unit on printmaking taught by Dorothy Bridger.
